From Siagon we took a bus to Cambodia, and went to Phenom Pehn and Siem Reap. In Siem Reap we saw the incredible Angkor Wat! It was a sumptuous blend of towers and sky. An astounding architectural feat built mostly by King Suryavarman during the 1112-52. We spent and exciting and exhausting day exploring as many temples as we could. We got some great pictures, but still it's hard to grasp from the pictures just how incredible the architexture of the temples are unless you witness all the details in the stones, or how the image of a temple can change drastically just by taking a few steps. We met Ryan in Vietnam, and he made the trip from Vietnam to Cambodia with us. He is from Oregon, and we had a blast traveling with him for two weeks, and going to Angkor Wat with him.

I am not sure how many of you have been following the news in Bangkok, but 5,000 protestors occupied the International Airport for a week demanding that the prime minister resign. Our immediate thought was that everything would be taken care of before our flight to Bangkok on the 3rd of December. Not the case! The prime minister finally resigned on the day we intended to fly to Bangkok, but of course the schedule of flights was completely distrupted. After a long and frustrating day we finally found a couple different flights to take in order to avoid Bangkok, and got refunds for the flights we were missing. We had to fly to a military airport in Thailand, and spend a night in a pretty sketchy town. However, no worries because we made it safe and sound to Koh Samui, an island in Southern Thailand. We are spending the last week of our time abroad on a couple islands and being beach potatoes. We have had the most cuturally enriching, eye opening, physically and mentally exhausting past three months of our lives, and now we are ready to spend a week in complete relaxation.
We are counting the days until we get to see everyone!
Much Love!

The following day we took a day boat tour to visit the islands surrounding Nah

Our final stop in Vietnam is Ho Chi

We will just fill you on on the main activities we indulged in this week. We saw the famous Wat Xieng Thong Temple, along with another famous temple that we hiked to see, took a tuk tuk ride to the Tat Kuang Si Waterfalls (gorgeous!), took a 7 hour cooking class, went to the Royal Palace Museum, and went to a tradition Lao ballet. Yes, Meghan actually did some cooking and didn't light anything on fire! We made five traditional Lao dishes all together, and all but one of them turned out pretty good.We actually did meet a few people here close to our age that we took the cooking class with. There are a really fun group of guys from Arizona, Washington DC, and England. We have had some great conversations with them, and they even convinced us to break away from our grandma ways and go out a few nights.

We also took a long boat ride that skimmed the murky gray water. A lot of the local houses were along the river, and it was eye opening to see the living conditions for these people. Lets just say it made us think of our $10 a night hostels look like five star hotels. Later that evening we met a group of English people and spent the rest of the night hanging out with them. It was fun, but we were more than happy to have only been apart of the chaos on Khaosan Road for a couple days.
